How can Osteopathy Help?
Cranial and Biodynamic Osteopathy work to free the inherent motion within the developing bones of the head and spinal column, central nervous system itself. Gentle fluid techniques can free shock in the nervous system, release compression, and restore good blood supply to the brain. They can improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid which supplies the nutrients to the neural tissues. It also restores good blood supply in the head and spine.
This enables the nervous system to remould and form new neural connections through a neuroplastic process. It can also improve nerve conduction and blood supply to and from the organs of the head and body.
Osteopathy can also be helpful when the nervous system is irritated and produces fitting or seizures. It works well on helping to free tension and spasm in the muscles in the spine and legs and arms. The gentle fluid techniques can be helpful in supporting immune function and difficulties with the body coping with the sometimes-high levels of medication required.
Osteopathic care of some children with special needs is sometimes a long-term process. We try to help them cope with the various challenges encountered as they grow, to help them maximise their potential.
